PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (AP) - Suffolk County authorities arrested a Long Island man on a charge of boating while intoxicated after he crashed his boat into a buoy.

Authorities say an emergency call came in around 9 p.m. Saturday. Witnesses at a bar in Patchogue said a man had left after a dispute, and was seen speeding down the Patchogue River.

Marine Bureau officers responded to the area, and were also told by the captain of a passing ferry that a boat had come out of the river into Patchogue Bay and hit a buoy.

Officers found the disabled boat, and took the operator into custody. Two other men were passengers on the vessel.
