MADISON, S.D. (AP) - The mayor of Madison is proposing that the city purchase an office building to relocate some municipal departments.

The Madison Daily Leader (https://bit.ly/2aCYOlj) reports that Mayor Roy Lindsay has asked city commissioners to consider the plan as part of the city’s 2017 budget.

Purchasing the building would give Madison police more space for interview rooms and a conference room and would open up room at city hall.

Lindsay says moving the department to the new building would also allow for city hall remodeling to improve accessibility to the finance office.
