FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A Fairbanks man has been fined $1,125 for killing a raven at his trailer -park last year.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports (https://bit.ly/2aIxoqN ) that 60-year-old Jerry Himebauch pleaded guilty on Wednesday in federal court to unlawfully taking a migratory bird.

A total of 25 dead ravens were found during a five-month period in the area, but Himebauch was only charged with the death of one bird because the evidence was strongest for that killing.

Ravens are common in Alaska and are significant in Alaska Native lore.
