MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - The 2016 lottery for Vermont moose hunting permits is going to be held at the Statehouse in Montpelier.

The drawing will begin Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Cedar Creek Room of the Statehouse.

The drawing will be for 135 regular season permits and 25 archery season permits. The total number of permits is down 40 percent from last year.

Hunters are expected to take about 70 moose.

The regular moose hunting season will be Oct. 15-20. The archery season is Oct. 1-7.



The names of the winners of this year’s permits will be posted on the Fish and Wildlife Department’s website late Tuesday.
