COVE, Utah (AP) - Authorities say a motorcyclist was killed near the Utah-Idaho border after rear-ending another vehicle.

The Utah Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 6:20 p.m. Saturday on SR-91 just south of the border.

According to investigators, 31-year-old Mario Mainini hit the back of a flatbed trailer being pulled by a pickup truck.

The truck had stopped to turn.

The impact threw Mainini off his motorcycle.

Troopers say he died at the scene. They say it appears Mainini, of Richmond, never slowed down before the crash.

According to police, he was wearing a helmet but the collision jarred it loose.

The accident remains under investigation.
