CHALMETTE, La. (AP) - The St. Bernard Parish Sheriff’s Office says a 64-year-old man has drowned in the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet.

Authorities tell news outlets that David LeBlanc Jr. of New Orleans fell in Sunday morning while trying to tie his boat to a platform.

He was dead on arrival at St. Bernard Parish hospital.

Investigators say neither LeBlanc nor the friend with him was wearing a life vest.
