FOUNTAIN GREEN, Utah (AP) - Authorities say an off-duty Sanpete County deputy has died and two others were critically injured in a head-on collision.

The Utah Highway Patrol says the crash happened on SR-132 near Fountain Green on Saturday.

According to troopers, 27-year-old Justin Scott was driving his personal vehicle around 6:30 p.m. when it veered into an oncoming lane at a curve.

The deputy’s Kia Optima collided with a Dodge Durango.

UHP officials say the unidentified deputy was killed by the impact.

The male driver of the other car and a 4-year-old girl riding with him were airlifted to a hospital in critical condition.

Also in the car were a woman and two child passengers. They were hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers say everyone in both cars was wearing seat belts.
