VALLEY, Neb. (AP) - Authorities say a 31-year-old man was seriously injured by fireworks in eastern Nebraska.

Justin Noah was flown to Nebraska Medical Center after the explosion around 7 p.m. Sunday in the Ginger Cove development west of Valley.

During the initial call for help, a caller told authorities that the man’s hand was gone. Investigators say they found the hand about 90 feet from where the firework exploded.

Valley Fire and Rescue Chief Aaron Ueckert says the man’s left eye was also injured. Ueckert says friends and family were with the man at the time but were not harmed.

A Nebraska Medical Center spokesman says 15 to 20 people went to that hospital’s emergency room with fireworks injuries between Friday and Monday morning.
