CLAREMONT, N.H. (AP) - Repairs are being made to public boat ramps in Claremont and Alton.

The Claremont ramp, known as Ashley Ferry along the Connecticut River, will be closed to accommodate dredging to remove accumulated river silt on the ramp. The closure starts late Tuesday. The ramp is expected to reopen Friday.

During that time, a plastic shield will be placed into the water to block the end of the ramp.

The ramp known as Downing’s Landing in Alton, which provides access to Alton Bay and Lake Winnipesaukee, will be closed for repairs starting late on July 17. The ramp is expected to be closed for less than two weeks and will reopen July 29.

The Fish and Game Department will extend the existing concrete and asphalt ramp slab and repair the uneven and deep drop-off that was created by destructive and unnecessary power-loading of boats onto trailers.
