SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Authorities say a 22-year-old man has drowned in Lake Madison in eastern South Dakota.

Lake County Sheriff Tim Walburg tells the Argus Leader (https://argusne.ws/29kXJMe) it happened at about 6 p.m. Sunday after the man dove off the back of a boat.

Dive teams recovered the body at about 8:30 p.m. The man’s name has not been released, pending notification of relatives.

Authorities say the area where the man dove into was only about 6 feet deep. He wasn’t wearing a lifejacket.

Lake Madison is about 40 miles northwest of Sioux Falls.

It’s the second drowning at the lake in a year. Last July, a 25-year-old woman drowned after falling out of a boat.
