ST. LOUIS (AP) - The superintendent of the St. Louis school district has signed a contract extension through the 2018-19 school year.

The district said Tuesday that Kelvin Adams will keep the base salary of $225,000 - the same amount as when he was hired in 2008. His car allowance does increase to $800 monthly from $300 monthly.

Under Adams’ leadership, academic achievement and graduation rates have improved throughout the St. Louis school system. But he says much work remains to be done.
