TOWNSEND, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police say a driver was killed and two passengers were injured when their car was hit by another vehicle at an intersection in Townsend.

The agency said in a news release that the collision occurred Friday afternoon on DuPont Parkway at Blackbird Landing Road. Troopers say 60-year-old Robert MacDonough of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania, was driving a Jeep Cherokee on DuPont Parkway when it failed to stop for a red light.

Police say the Jeep hit a Honda Civic and pushed it into a third vehicle.

Troopers say the driver of the Honda, 54-year-old Leyland Reffett of Townsend, died at a hospital. Authorities say two passengers in Reffett’s car were taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say MacDonough was charged with failure to stop at a red light.
