SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) - Prosecutors say a former planning commissioner in Orange County is pleading guilty to a federal bribery charge involving thousands of dollars.

Under a plea agreement made public Tuesday, Westminster planning Commissioner Dave Phuong Dinh Vo is admitting to accepting a $15,000 bribe from a confidential informant working with the FBI in the summer of 2011.

In exchange, the 42-year-old Vo admits to helping the informant obtain a permit involving a liquor license.

Prosecutors say Vo had an initial appearance in court Tuesday and is expected to enter the guilty plea at a later date.

Vo’s attorney, Dan Chambers, declined to comment.

Vo served as Westminster’s planning commissioner between 2009 and August 2011.

The bribery charge carries a maximum 10 years in prison.
