WOODSTOCK, Vt. (AP) - A former worker at a Vermont water purification developer who said she was wrongfully fired has been awarded $400,000.

The Valley News reports (https://bit.ly/29vreKy ) Linda West was awarded the damages on Thursday in Woodstock.

West had been an accountant at Seldon Technologies in Windsor from 2003 to 2012. She says she was fired for complaining over the company’s misuse of federal EB-5 money. West says the company used the money to pay for a Seldon officer’s purchase of company stock and income taxes.

The program gives foreign investors U.S. visas.

Seldon, which didn’t have any attorney at the hearing, abruptly closed in November after its owner stopped funding the company.

West’s attorney, Norman Watts, says he plans to hold Seldon’s former directors liable for damages if an appeal isn’t filed.
