YPSILANTI TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 2-year-old girl has died after being struck by a car in Washtenaw County.

Sheriff’s department spokesman Derrick Jackson tells The Ann Arbor News (https://bit.ly/29tSrj4 ) that the girl was hit around 6 p.m. Monday in Ypsilanti Township’s West Willow neighborhood by a 54-year-old Ypsilanti man. Jackson says she was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police arrested the driver, who was being held at the Washtenaw County Jail. Jackson says investigators suspect he was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The man’s name wasn’t immediately released, pending charges. The death is under investigation.
