WANAMINGO, Minn. (AP) - The southeastern Minnesota town of Goodhue is mourning the death of its fire chief in a tractor accident.

The Goodhue County sheriff’s office says 58-year-old Michael Kehren was killed in the accident early Monday. It says the tractor was pulling two connected hay wagons that were carrying people after a benefit dance for the Wanamingo Fire Department. He was on the tow bar between the two wagons when he fell off, struck his head on the pavement and was run over by the second wagon. Kehren died at the scene.

Fire Captain Dick Bandit says the whole town of Goodhue is in shock. The Post-Bulletin of Rochester reports that the flag outside the fire hall was lowered to half-staff and a large banner was hung outside saying “RIP Chief Kehren.”
