ATLANTA (AP) - A metro Atlanta man has been found guilty of murdering his live-in girlfriend and the couple’s 6-year-old daughter helped police identify her mother’s killer.

Officials say Deunta Grier was convicted and sentenced Tuesday to life in prison plus 15 years for fatally shooting 24-year-old Tiffany Baily in her left eye during an argument.

Police say 26-year-old Grier initially said Baily was shot on Nov. 7, 2015 during a home invasion. Grier said he was a drug dealer and a target for robbery. The couple’s three children were home at the time.

During their investigation, police say a friend of Grier’s told police that Grier confessed to killing Baily. Upon questioning Grier and Baily’s daughter, she told police: “mommy and daddy were fighting when daddy grabbed his gun and shot mommy.”
