LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Little Rock police have arrested a woman in connection with a shooting death on the Fourth of July.

Police say the shooting happened Monday night at a home on Blackwood Road in midtown Little Rock. Police say 40-year-old Johnny Winfield, who was shot in the torso, was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police said Tuesday morning that officers arrested 58-year-old Gloria Tate on suspicion of first-degree murder. She’s being held in the Pulaski County jail, and authorities did not know whether she had an attorney.

Police said in a statement that Tate and Winfield used to date each other.

The death is Little Rock’s 17th homicide of the year.
