PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Rhode Island man has been charged with murder after police say he intentionally hit a man with a car, causing the man’s death.

The Providence Journal reports (https://bit.ly/29lrU6P) Axel Morales, of Providence, was ordered held without bail Tuesday on charges including murder, assault with a dangerous weapon and related crimes.

Police say the 21-year-old Morales struck his ex-girlfriend and her husband with a vehicle Sunday morning outside the couple’s home in the city’s Mount Pleasant neighborhood. Police say Morales intentionally ran over 38-year-old Cesar Alonzo twice. Alonzo died from his injuries.

A bail hearing is scheduled for July 18.

It’s unclear whether Morales has retained a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
