PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities are investigating the cause of a fire that displaced about a dozen people from a north Phoenix apartment complex.

The Fire Department says the people displaced included a pregnant young woman who was transported to a hospital as a precaution after the fire early Tuesday morning.

None of the approximately 20 firefighters who fought the fire were injured.

The complex is located near North 35rd Avenue and West Bell Road. Four units were destroyed and an additional four have smoke damage.

Firefighters said smoke detectors likely saved lives.

American Red Cross volunteers are helping the displaced residents to find temporary shelter.
