CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - Charleston’s mayor is expressing grief after one of the city’s contract workers was killed in an accident involving a city vehicle.

Mayor John Tecklenburg says Tuesday’s death is being investigated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The sanitation worker was hit when a city garbage truck was backing up in downtown Charleston.
