DEERPARK, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say separate motorcycle crashes over the weekend in upstate New York have left one man dead and another man seriously injured.

Deerpark Police Chief Richard Sztyndor says the fatal crash happened just before 6 p.m. Sunday when 23-year-old Angel Valer lost control of his 2011 Suzuki motorcycle while he was trying to navigate a turn and hit a rock wall.

The crash threw the Hawthrone, New Jersey, man from his bike and caused the motorcycle to burst into flames. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Investigators say a 33-year-old New Jersey man was seriously injured earlier in the afternoon when he lost control and struck a rock wall while negotiating a turn. He was flown to a hospital for head and neck injuries.

Both crashes are under investigation.
