CHICAGO (AP) - A Chicago man has been sentenced to 39 years in prison for the 2014 slaying of a cab driver.

The Cook County state’s attorney’s office says 19-year-old Clint Massey was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Vincent Gaughan.

Authorities said 28-year-old Javan Boyd was sitting in his taxi cab waiting for a fare on Feb. 22, 2014 when he was shot seven times. He later died at a hospital. Boyd had been waiting for a customer.

Prosecutors say Massey and Courtney Ealy were part of a group who drove cars to the Wentworth Gardens apartment complex, where they were going to retaliate for an earlier shooting.

The shooting of Boyd was captured on Chicago Housing Authority video surveillance.

Massey and the 21-year-old Ealy were convicted of first-degree murder. Ealy was previously sentenced to 38 years in prison.
