PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Two men are headed to prison for their roles in the 2012 beating death of a Rhode Island man.

Attorney General Peter Kilmartin says 41-year-old Carlos Rios, of Boston, and 33-year-old Carlos Reyes-Sanchez, of Sarasota, Florida, were sentenced Tuesday in Rhode Island Superior Court.

Rios was sentenced to 20 years in prison for a manslaughter charge. Reyes-Sanchez received nine months behind bars for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Prosecutors say 49-year-old Victor Baez was found beaten and unconscious outside his Cranston home on January 30, 2012. He died from his injuries nearly four months later.

Prosecutors say Baez and Rios had argued at Rios’ birthday party the evening before the assault. They say Rios and Reyes-Sanchez later accosted Baez at his home and beat him to death.
