OKEMOS, Mich. (AP) - A freeway pileup involving a semi-truck and five other vehicles near Lansing has injured about a dozen people.

The Lansing State Journal reports (https://on.lsj.com/29j1wGu ) that two people are in critical condition after the crash Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 96 near Okemos.

Ingham County Deputy Emergency Manager Rob Dale says eight people have been hospitalized.

A Chrysler PT Cruiser rolled over around 4:30 p.m. near a rest area along the freeway east of Lansing. About 20 minutes later, the truck’s driver failed to notice the slowing traffic and hit other vehicles in front of the truck.

The freeway’s westbound lanes were closed as police investigated the crash.
