WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (AP) - A northeastern Pennsylvania judge has declined to reduce the half-million-dollar bail for a defendant accused of trying to kill a woman who was stripped, beaten and taken into woods where her throat was slit.

The (Wilkes-Barre) Times Leader (https://bit.ly/29irdGX ) reports that the Luzerne County judge on Wednesday denied the motion for 26-year-old Nygee Taylor.

Police in Wyoming County said the victim was found in October 2014 in a wooded area of Bear Creek Township, naked and bloody with a 3-inch-deep laceration “from the trachea to her ear.”

Authorities said she had earlier been stripped at a Wilkes-Barre home and beaten “by a number of females” and then was placed in a barrel for about four hours.

Taylor and at least one other suspect are scheduled for trial in September.
