NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) - Connecticut State Police are warning drivers to watch out for bears after a motorist struck one on Interstate 84.

Police say the bear was hit Tuesday morning on the eastbound side of I-84 in New Britain. The driver had left the scene when troopers arrived.

Police are advising drivers that hit bears, deer or other wildlife to call police and not exit their vehicle.

Police say the state Department of Energy & Environmental Protection was at the scene. The bear was killed and taken away.
