BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - A man on a bicycle ride with his 6-year-old grandson was struck and killed by a car just west of Park City.

The Montana Highway Patrol says glare from the sun may have contributed to the collision, which happened at about 8 a.m. Wednesday on Old Highway 10. Both the bicyclists and the car were traveling east.

Sheriff Cliff Brophy tells the Stillwater County News that 58-year-old Gary Lowman died at the scene.

Trooper Bill Bullock tells The Billings Gazette (https://bit.ly/29idPmC) the boy was alert and speaking during the ride to the hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening. The patrol says the child, who was wearing a helmet, was not directly hit by the car.

The driver stayed at the scene and is cooperating with law enforcement officers.
