SANTA ROSA, Calif. (AP) - Two hikers in northern California have been rescued by a late-night search party.

The Press Democrat reports (https://bit.ly/29npq7P ) that the couple started the hike in Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Tuesday afternoon and became lost by nightfall. Emergency dispatchers say the hikers were able to get a cell phone signal and call for help around 9:40 p.m. They were uninjured by reported being exhausted and dehydrated.

Emergency personnel say the search included a California Highway Patrol helicopter, the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department and Santa Rosa, Sonoma Valley and Kenwood firefighters.
