LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Gov. Rick Snyder has appointed Rachael Eubanks to the state commission that regulates energy and telecommunications services.

The East Lansing resident will serve as an independent on the Public Service Commission. No more than two commissioners on the three-member board can represent the same political party.

Eubanks, whose appointment was announced Wednesday, is director of public finance for Robert W. Baird and Co. Inc. The firm has expertise in wealth management, capital markets, private equity and asset management.

She will fill the vacancy left by the departure of John Quackenbush. Her term will end in July 2017.

Snyder’s appointment will stand unless it is rejected by the Senate.
