RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the death of infant that was found behind a Rapid City motel.

Police say a witness informed officers on Sunday morning that a female had a miscarriage and was going to “dispose” of baby’s body.

Police made contact with the mother who said that her baby was stillborn.

Police spokesman Brendyn Medina says investigators found the deceased child wrapped in cloth on the ground behind the motel. He says officers are still trying to determine when baby was born.

Police say they do not believe the case to be a homicide. Medina says he does not know if an autopsy is planned.
