EAST ORANGE, N.J. (AP) - A suspended East Orange police officer accused of helping to run a drug ring that allegedly was based at her home has been cleared of all charges.

Rajheher Massenburg’s lawyer says his client now hopes to get her job back.

An Essex County jury found Massenburg not guilty of conspiracy to distribute drugs and official misconduct. She had been suspended without pay after being indicted in October 2014.

Prosecutors claim a man who lived with Massenburg stored drugs in her home and ran the drug operation from the residence. Trials for that man and another person charged in the case are pending.

Massenburg’s lawyer argued she was the target of retaliation after filing a lawsuit against the police department she had joined in 2003.

An East Orange spokeswoman declined comment on Massenburg’s job status, saying it was a personnel matter.
