LEBANON, Ohio (AP) - A man accused of shooting and injuring his father and a southwest Ohio sheriff’s deputy is being held on $2 million bond.

A judge entered not-guilty pleas Wednesday for 19-year-old Mohammed Abdou Laghaoui after he said he can’t afford to hire a lawyer. The judge appointed an attorney, whose office said he was away and unavailable for comment.

The charges against Laghaoui include attempted aggravated murder, attempted murder and evidence-tampering.

Authorities say a Warren County deputy was shot in the abdomen last month while responding to a domestic disturbance at an apartment complex. She’s expected to recover.

Laghaoui’s father was shot in the hand.

Authorities say they believe an assault rifle was used in the shooting. The county prosecutor says one round entered a child’s bedroom in a neighboring apartment.
