HOUMA, La. (AP) - Police say an 18-year-old Houma man is in custody and faces charges in the shooting deaths of two men.

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter tells The Courier (https://bit.ly/29wjxXd) Michael Diggs faces two counts of second-degree murder and four counts of attempted second-degree murder.

Larpenter says Diggs is accused in the death of 23-year-old John Darjean and 29-year-old Troy Deroche, who were both shot, within minutes of each other, during the early morning hours on June 30. The sheriff says both victims died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds.

On Tuesday morning, sheriff’s detectives learned that Diggs was arrested in Calcasieu Parish by the Lake Charles Police Department on Sunday.

Larpenter says deputies are still seeking a motive for the shootings.
