DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - A man convicted of vehicular homicide in a crash that killed his girlfriend - the mother of four - has been sentenced to 15 years in prison.

The Des Moines Register says (https://dmreg.co/29szjPB ) Troy Mure Jr. was sentenced Wednesday to the maximum.

Mure was convicted in April for the death of 22-year-old Scalicity Boyd. Police say a vehicle driven by Mure in November crashed into a utility pole, ejecting and killing Boyd, who was a passenger.

Police say Mure told authorities that he was being chased by people inside a silver Cadillac. Mure said someone in the vehicle displayed a gun.

District Court Judge Paul Scott cited Mure’s criminal record and habitual offender status in issuing the maximum sentence.
