DALLAS (AP) - Authorities searching for the body of an off-duty university police officer presume he drowned when he was swept away in a flooded Dallas creek.

The search resumed Wednesday for the Southern Methodist University officer who was last seen working a security job at a construction site.

The Dallas Morning News (https://bit.ly/29oVKXf ) reports that the officer was near Turtle Creek when a thunderstorm hit the area.

The unidentified officer called a dispatcher to say his car was being overtaken by water, but he lost contact with authorities before dawn Tuesday. The search was suspended Tuesday night.

Dallas Fire-Rescue officials say they are treating the search as a recovery effort. About 40 people and a K-9 team were participating in the search.
