KEALIA, Hawaii (AP) - A Kauai beach is closed to swimmers because of a shark sighting.

County officials say lifeguards reported that a 10- to 12-foot-long shark was seen Wednesday about 75 yards from shore at Kealia Beach. Lifeguards say it was possibly a tiger shark.

The public is advised to stay out of the water until further notice. Lifeguards will continue monitoring the area.

The beach will remain closed until at least Thursday morning.
