PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A woman is in custody after police say she sprayed Mace at a Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority bus driver and a passenger in a wheelchair in north Philadelphia.

SEPTA Police Chief Thomas Nestel says the incident happened at about 7:45 p.m. Tuesday in the Olney section of the city while the bus was stopped to allow the passenger in the wheelchair to board.

Nestel says the driver was assisting the passenger when a woman boarded who was agitated because she felt the driver had passed her mid-block. He says an argument ensued and the woman sprayed the driver with Mace and inadvertently sprayed the other passenger.

Police arrested the woman. Authorities didn’t immediately identify her.

The bus driver and passenger were treated at a hospital.
