YAPHANK, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have identified the victims in the head-on crash on Long Island that left four people dead and two others injured.

Suffolk County Police say 38-year-old Chandan Gavai, of Middle Island, was killed along with his parents who were visiting from India.

The parents were identified as 74-year-old Kamalnayan Gavai and 60-year-old Archana Gavai.

The wreck happened Monday night in Yaphank when a pickup truck driven by 25-year-old Gustave Geyer, of Ridge, lost control and slammed into a sedan traveling in the opposite direction.

Geyer died in the accident. A passenger in the sedan, Chandan Gavai’s 32-year-old wife, remains in critical condition and the couple’s 11-month old baby was hospitalized with injuries that aren’t life-threatening.

The crash is under investigation.
