NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Delaware State Police have charged a 15-year-old girl with stabbing another teenager in front of a convenience store in Newark.

The agency said in a news release that a group of people was standing outside a 7-Eleven on Four Seasons Parkway Monday. Troopers say a 15-year-old boy saw a girl he knew from an earlier fight approach him with a knife in her hand.

Police say the boy tried to run away, but the girl stabbed him in the torso. Officers say the girl left the area in a car.

The boy was taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

Troopers say the girl later surrendered to state police barracks in Newark. She is charged with assault and other offenses.
