BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An 18-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the shooting death last month of an aspiring rapper in Birmingham.

News outlets report Moses Siedlik was taken into custody July 4 and charged with capital murder in the death of 19-year-old Daniel Wideman.

Police say Wideman was shot June 17 in Ensley’s Central Park area. He later died at a hospital.

Birmingham police say in a news release that Siedlik is being held without bond. It isn’t clear whether he has an attorney.

Wideman’s mother, Deborah Wilkins, says that although her son had been living in Gadsden, he often came to the Ensley area on weekends to work with friends on rap music.

She says her son dreamed of being a rapper.

Police haven’t released a motive in the slaying.
