AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say a 10-year-old boy has been hospitalized after being attacked by a dog at a home in Washtenaw County.

Joyce Williams of Huron Valley Ambulance says the child was taken to a hospital in Ann Arbor following the Wednesday afternoon attack in Washtenaw County’s Augusta Township.

The township’s Fire Chief Dave Music says the boy had broken bones in his arm and wounds to his face. The Ann Arbor News reports (https://bit.ly/29stx1S ) the boy was able to go to a neighbor’s home for help. An off-duty firefighter helped the boy before an ambulance arrived.

Police tell the newspaper that the boy was home alone when the dog attacked.

The dog has been turned over to animal control authorities and its owners have asked that it be euthanized.
