FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP) - Authorities in Fort Wayne are investigating a series of suspicious house fires in a neighborhood on the city’s northeast side.

The most recent fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. Wednesday in a two-story house. Firefighters were unable to enter the building because of damage from another fire at the house. There were no injuries.

Fire officials say that since April 10, at least nine vacant homes have been intentionally set ablaze in the area and more fires have been reported. Blackhawk Forest Neighborhood Association President Pat Sidey says people are concerned.

Fire officials are telling property owners to leave a porch light on and to be extra vigilant if they live near a vacant house.
