HAZEN, N.D. (AP) - Mercer County authorities are investigating the death of a service dog that its owner says was stolen from him.

Patriot Assistance Dogs trainer Linda Wiedewitsch tells KXMB-TV (https://bit.ly/29oi7ym ) that a military veteran called on Monday to report that Cletabell the service dog had been stolen near Hazen. She says the dog’s owner was tending to a horse when someone in a pickup pulled up and took the dog before he could stop them.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department reported on Wednesday that the dog had been found dead.
