DETROIT (AP) - A woman who was electrocuted when a small plane crashed in a Detroit neighborhood has died.

Theresa Surles had been in a hospital since the June 28 crash. The Wayne County medical examiner’s office says she died Wednesday.

Surles, a 38-year-old bystander, was struck by a power line when the plane landed in a neighborhood, possibly because of low fuel. The pilot’s injuries were minor.

The plane had been pulling a banner over crowds gathered for Detroit’s annual fireworks display.

Friend Lisa Jones says Surles was preparing to go to the fireworks show when the plane crashed.

Jones says Surles had six children as well as grandchildren, adding, “That’s a lot to leave behind.”
