HARRISON, Ark. (AP) - Harrison’s police chief says the former director of the Harrison Housing Authority has been arrested on suspicion of forgery, theft and attempted tax evasion.

Chief Paul Woodruff says 31-year-old Derek White was arrested Tuesday following an investigation by the agency that has been ongoing for almost two years. He was released after posting $10,000 bond. It was not immediately clear if White is represented by an attorney.

The Harrison Daily Times reports (https://bit.ly/29vIVZV ) White resigned in August 2014. He had taken over from former director George Holcomb in 2012.

Allegations against White have played prominently in a whistleblower lawsuit filed against the housing authority and the city of Harrison in 2015. Two former housing authority employees allege they were fired in retaliation for reporting misuse of money in the agency.
