GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - Steve Azar and Jason Fratesi want to buy Warfield Point Park, and the Washington County Board of Supervisors might just let them.

Azar, a Greenville guitarist and country singing mogul, expressed their interest in buying the park during Tuesday’s board meeting.

Azar, who co-founded the Mighty Mississippi Music Festival with Fratesi, said the festival helps bring folks to Washington County, specifically the park, which sits on the Mississippi River.

While the supervisors agreed to discuss the purchase with him, supervisor Carl McGee said he doesn’t want to sell the park.

To him, the park is a local venue, a place where all residents and outsiders can experience the outdoors.

McGee said his focus is to promote the park.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports (https://bit.ly/29ze3uZ ) the issue will be discussed at upcoming board meetings.
