MASSAPEQUA, N.Y. (AP) - Police on Long Island have arrested a woman and her daughter on charges they stole a car from a motel parking lot and then robbed a woman of her purse.

The suspects were arrested Wednesday on charges of robbery and grand larceny.

Nassau County police say 44-year-old Kimberly Decicco and her 24-year-old daughter, Erika Obritis, are accused of stealing an unlocked 1997 Pontiac in Massapequa on June 19. They say the pair found the keys in the van, drove it to a nearby supermarket and grabbed a woman’s pocketbook in the parking lot before fleeing.

Police located the van in Commack on Wednesday, and the two women were placed under arrest a short time later.

It wasn’t immediately clear if they had attorneys who could comment on the charges.
