HERNDON, Va. (AP) - Authorities have found a bullet inside a northern Virginia girl’s mattress after it flew through her bedroom window.

Fairfax County police say in a statement that the unidentified 9-year-old girl had gotten out of bed in Herndon on Tuesday night and walked to the window because she heard a loud noise. That’s when police say the girl when suddenly felt something on her arm, possibly broken glass.

Police say the girls’ parents found a hole in the window where she had been standing.

Officers investigated and found a bullet lodged in the mattress.

Authorities searched the neighborhood, but no one was arrested. No information on a suspect has been released.
