SUMRALL, Miss. (AP) - Sumrall police says they have arrested a 35-year-old man and charged him in the death of 44-year-old Kimberly Raynes, who was found dead May 18.

Police Chief Chris Dungan tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/29uKS8U) Donald King Jr. was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

King has been in custody since May 19 — just one day after Raynes was killed —when he was arrested by state correction officials for violating the terms of his probation. He is being held without bond at Lamar County Jail.

A preliminary autopsy report released May 19 by the state medical examiner showed Raynes died of a single gunshot wound.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for King.
